Let me yell it loud and clear....chemo is done!
Day 21 - round six - FINAL INFUSION!!!!
Had a pretty restless night... But the steroids do that....they kick in when you're ready to sleep... But eventually I fell asleep ....
Woke this morning like a kid at Christmas! Nervous excitement that today was my last chemo.....
Rocked up for my appointment with a bit of a spring in my step.... I had a different nurse again today, think I've pretty you had all of them treat me now!
Of course my veins have decided they've had enough, so found one in the bend of the top of my wrist, a tiny but stable one that required the baby size cannula to be used.... And just because it was tiny doesn't mean it didn't hurt! Bought tears and maximum sweaty palms!!!
Infusion went without drama..... Had a lovely chat to another patient, Sonny, and learned his story... Nasal cancer... Rare but prominent in his nationality Vietnamese/Chinese.... Makes you wonder about these things and how it can be kind of exclusive like that... Anyways he runs a restaurant and we promised we would go and eat there when I'm up to it....
Time passed pretty quickly this time... And before I knew it, it was time to be disconnected.... My first nurse Summer had the privilege of doing that! So after that was done & goodbyes and well wishing was complete, I practically ran out of there!
I am so happy that part of treatment is over!!! I left the nursing staff some yummy chocolates, which they tucked into almost immediately! A small thank you for the wonderful job they do, they are a bit of sunshine in an otherwise dismal place... Always gentle, kind and ready with a joke or two if needed....Very special people indeed.
We went out for lunch after, as we always do...then went home.
I'm forever grateful that my partner in crime.... My hubby, has sat by me at every appointment, cuddled me when I cried, kept me positive and calmed me down when I got stressed .... I love him to infinity and beyond!
I am also grateful for my family and friends....every thing you have done, said, sent has been absorbed and appreciated... I will never forget....
Well I will have a rest now and hopefully the side effects won't be so nasty this last time....
CHEMO IS DONE! 6 ROUNDS..... T.K.O TO CANCER!!!!

The day was one of the few times that Imshed a few tears. One of my sister's who, has come to all appointments (except radiotherapy daily) with me, surprised me with a pair of Pandore earrings as a congratulations for getting through!
Another 8 months down the track now. Surgery and radiotherapy over, and still tryi g to figure out post bc life, but it's all good ??
