Late period!

Hello ladies,

I've just finished my fourth AC treatment. My period was due on the 5 of July and never came.

Is this common?

I'm 39, I've read diff things regarding them stopping, coming back or early menopause!

Thanks

  • Only had 1 after the first round of AC. Nothing since then and its been 6 months since the end of chemo.  Pretty normal apparently.
  • I had 3 heavy periods during by 4x3 AC treatment. Have just finished 4th weekly round of 12 taxols and no period for 6 weeks now, hope that’s it and it never comes back as I’m thinking no period means no aestrogen. I wear panty liners each day just in case I have an accident
  • Hi I just got my period, 12 days late and just finished 3 out of 4 AC. I had a panic attack which is easily triggered these days as I'm so damn fragile! Is it normal? I thought my period would stop.
Had a gene test at 11am but I had to cancel it because I was in such a state. Anything helpful would be so appreciated xx
  • Hi @KatherineH  I was on AC x 4 and I got one period during chemo and bit of spotting and then nothing for 6 months.  I've now been on Zoladex injections for 5 months to suppress my hormones. I had one crazy month with a couple of periods and then nothing. I'm 47 so I'm hoping that's it for me.  I guess everyone is different too, so they may be messed up for a while also depending on what kind of treatment you have after chemo and if you're oestrogen and progesterone positive.
  • From what I've read, it is common. Our bodies have been through the wringer with poison so  I imagine it takes quite awhile for things to get back to normal. Congratulations on finishing chemo. I just did my last one on the 11th.
  • Hi @KatherineH I was 42 and had ACT chemo. I had heavy bleeding and then my period stopped fairly early on in AC chemo. I had a few hot flushes and had some mild menopausal symptoms. The doctor told me that I had a 50% chance of them coming back. 2 years later my period came back. Can you talk to your oncologist about it? All the best.
