Late Effects Clinic at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre

Just wondering if anyone has had any involvement with the Late Effects Clinc at Peter Mac Cancer Centre in Melbourne. I would be keen to hear from anyone who has been there. I'm from country Vic and don't know much about the hospital etc.

  • The Late Effects Service is open to any person over the age of 18 whose course of received chemotherapy, radiation therapy and/or surgery as a curative treatment for cancer was completed a minimum of five years previous.

Your general practitioner or specialist will organise referrals to Peter Mac’s Late Effects Service or you can contact the service directly for more information or advice. (From the Peter Mac website)

Interesting - I had no idea that cataracts (the next thing to fix!)  may be long term results of chemo - of course they may not be either, but ................

I was at Epworth (Freemasons and Cliveden) too and can also speak highly of the people there.

  • I am a patient at Peter Mac.  I have had no involvement with the Late Effects Clinic.  Not certain what that is.  I have had radiation, scans, bloods done and am currently on a clinical trial at Peter Mac.  Speaking from first hand experience Peter Mac is just amazing.  All the staff are just simply awesome.  I hate going there believe me but they make it so much better for me and every other patient and their family members.  There is a great day centre there where you can pop in, rest in between appointments.  If you are coming from the country I do believe they have accommodation there.
I cant speak highly enough of Peter Mac.  I am very fortunate that I only live 15 minutes away from this first class hospital.

With best wishes to you all.

  • Welcome @Polly Rose, I didn't go to Peter Mac, but there are ladies that have and do go there. They'll hopefully jump in with some info. I went to Freemasons in East Melbourne :) xx Melinda
