Even with clear margins, radiotherapy is still given in some cases after mastectomy. If the cancer was found in more than one lymph node then radiotherapy is recommended. I had radiation to my colarbone area (lymph node in this area) under my arm ( lymph node area) as well as to the chest wall (my tumor was very close to chest wall and margins were small). I had a mastectomy but the cancer had spread to 5 lymph nodes under my arm. Hope this is helpful information. Deanne x
