I had Lat Dorsi to my mastectomy side last year. I had a prophylactic mastectomy, reduction to the other side at the same time of surgery.
But in relation to the Lat Dorsi alone. I had 3 wound drains to that side. It wasn't much worse than the original Mastectomy, even though there is the wound at the back too.
I had tissue expander and later the Implant exchange. I think that this is common or usual.
I had regular Paracetamol, with the stronger tablets as needed in addition.
I almost always had strong pain relief at bedtime. I slept mostly on my back as I had surgery both sides.
My Plastic surgeon told me to expect a seroma on my back wound. I did get one. I had it drained 4 times, and then my tissue expander filled gradually until I was happy with the size.
My photos are in the 'choosing reconstruction', called something like "Not suitable for DIEP'
You probably had an opening bra from your Mastectomy which you can reuse.
My surgeon suggested crop top type bras. Bonds make them.
Only problem is that they go over your head. I still use them sometimes.
The other problem is that they are hard to find in large sizes, should you need them.
I am very happy with the results.
I may have some Liposuction, under that arm and slightly to the back. She suggested this later or when I want now. She would Lipo fill middle/central part of the new breast to improve the shape.
But for now I am happy, and may not have this done.
I will get nipple tattoos.
All the best for your surgery and recovery.
