I was 30 when I was diagnosed with stage 1 BC in 2010. It was a triple negative cancer. I had my left breast removed and a full auxillary clearance. I did 6 rounds of chemo but no radio.
It is now ...
I can be strong for myself, but it always makes me sad when someone as young as you has had to face all this. I am so glad you have had 2 years with no problems since 2010.
Like you, I was advised to have a prophylactic mastectomy, so had bilateral surgery in April. (Also triple negative and a family history.) I came through the surgery really well, also the chemo, and currently I am halfway through radiotherapy - No. 16 today. Next month I will be having a hysterectomy as a precaution, so our stories are similar.
I am relieved that the doctors have pulled out all the stops to blitz any cells that might be lurking - for me, the peace of mind overshadows everything else. You will decide what is best for you, and I send you a big hug. Keep posting and let us know what you decide. Michelle x
