Just when I was feeling normal

Hi everyone, hope this finds you feeling well. I have been having some ultrasounds done for my abdominal pain on and off since November last year. My last ultrasound showed a 5cm cyst which I have bleed into and should be the reason I am in pain. I have had this cyst off and on since November. GP said we can look at again in 2 months. This time I said no more send me to a specialist please, so she sent the referral off, only to have to wait til Oct to see the gynaecologist. This morning I get a phone call from the gynaecologist saying that she has looked at my notes and wants to see me earlier, and can I please get some bloods done ASAP. The blood test she asked for is CA 125. An ovarian cancer test. Well, here we go again! Another Cancer test. My head is saying don't worry til there is something to worry about, but if I'm being honest about it........ I am absolutely petrified!

  • HI Penny,  Just when you think the road is clear.......that is the big problem with BC - we have to be "on guard" at all times.  When you feel that something is wrong keep pushing until it is checked out.  I am pleased that your gyne has pushed your appt forward - so much easier when you know what you are dealing with.  The fear of the unknown is horrendous.  As the girls said try and do the things that make you happy whilst you wait.  I was really sick today (waiting for my PET scan results didn't help) and went and sat in the sun in the pool area.  I had our dog with me and just sat and enjoyed the sun whilst patting the pup's ears.  Sometimes the little things.........  We are all with you Penny XLeonie

  • Hi Penny, thinking of you, and keeping everything crossed that it is nothing more than a benign cyst. Love Chris xx
  • You have a great gynaecologist - she doesn't waste any time at all.  Like Tanya, I had my right ovary removed for a large cyst a few years ago, and it was completely benign.  It sounds as though you are now in very careful hands.  Let us know how you go - thinking of you and hoping all is okay with your tests,
