Jumping on the BC train

Hi there ladies

I was in Canada enjoying an extended working holiday (I spent 6 months on a ski resort and just decided to stay on in Canada for the summer) and had just came back from a month traveling central america when I noticed a red mark on my L breast. I touched it and instantly my heart leaped out of my chest. My mum had BC and so I always knew I could get it. Just never thought this young. All the stuff I have seen about BC has been associated with older women.

I got it checked out= poked, proded and probed. Diagnoses was Triple Neg Invasive Ductal Carcinoma.

I was on a flight home within a few days.

The past couple of weeks has been a blur of appoinments, doctors and waiting rooms.

I am 30 and single so the issue of fertility has come up. I just had egg collection done today. They only got 5 which isnt great, but better then none.

So they have decided on chemo first then surgery. And they dont start for a couple of weeks even. Which I am worried if it spreads?

Although during the scans they have found a cyst on my R ovary and they are looking at it on Monday if its malignant. It just seems like one thing after another.

I am remaining positive though, focasing on good things like new boobs and hair!

I am interested in raising awareness among young people about breast cancer so if there is anything going on let me know!

  • Hey there Yea it's not really the 'in' group you really want to be in. I live in the blue mountains. I was living in Canada but had to come home for treatment :( I had my first chemo round and its really knocked me out. I'm so tired. And it's only day 1 after. My ovary cyst had to be removed but it turned out benign so that was good. Ill keep u guys updated but it's all new for me. I don't get on here often. Xx

    WHere are you located?

I too love raising awareness that bc can happen to young women. i was 28 when first diagnosed. i never knew it could happen to younger women.

More education needs to be done.

Im now 30 and cancer free.

Good luck with your treatment and keep us updated.
