It's unbelievable

Hi I've now been living with the knowledge that I have aggressive breast cancer since may10th, 2012. I will be having my left breast off on the 24th of may, and do not really know what's ahead of me regarding treatment, except the doctor did say I would need chemo. So I've been looking at the sites for turbans and scalves. What's a girl to do in this position but window shop. Lol I would love to hear from anyone that is. Urgently going through the same thing. Vicki

  • Dear Vicki

We are all here for you. Xxx

I found Ebay the best for shopping - I also put a call out to people to borrow hats, scarves etc...

Good luck with your surgery. Glad you found this site & this group.

I also had a left breast mastectomy last yr at the age of 28. It is quiet a shock to hear you have breast cancer and that you require a mastectomy. I do feel for you, however Im here to tell you that the start, when everything is new and you dont know whats going on & what your treatment plan is. Is probably the worst feeling... It does get better & you find a strength you never knew you had.

I suggest you find a councillor to speak to (as there are some things you just cant talk about to family/friends) & dont ever be ashamed to ask for help (coz u will need it)

    All my love,

    Merylee

  • Hi Vicki. Sorry to hear your news. I had a lumpectomy followed by chemo and radio and was in my late 30's with a 1 and 4 year old. Aggressive. That was 5 years ago and now I'm taxiing my kids to piano, cello, karate, drums, swimming, gymnastics, footy and ensemble. I never imagined at the time of diagnosis that I would get through but I did! Scarves are a great look and I can tell you won't mind the shopping:-) The Cancer Council is a good'one to call for the wig library, even if it's just to have a play. And the Look Good Feel Better programme they run is lots of fun and you get heaps of beautiful makeup to keep. Chat to you online again soon I hope. Take care, Lee. X
