Well, the day has arrived! I'm having my 1 year check up today with an ultrasound & mamogramm. I'm so nervous & scared. Not sure I could hear those words again. I didn't sleep at all last night. I'm sure it will all be fiine but I've been told the 1st check up is the most scariest. On another note, my portacath is hurting quite a bit. Does anyone have any ideas on how to ease the pain? I only had it flushed 2 weeks ago. I'm not sure if it's the way I'm sleeping or if its something else. I'm seeing my doc today so I'll ask him about it but I just wanted to see if anyone has any other ideas. Hope everyone is doing well.

It depends on if its unusual or not. I had a freak out about it and rang my Breast Care Nurse, who gave me a probable reason, and I waited to see if it would get worse. I discovered, in that instance, there wasnt anything wrong. I asked my Onc about mine, and he said, if it really annoys me it can be taken out, but with the explanaition of why its there, I decided to wait a couple of years, just incase. (my luck goes like this, if they take it out, I will need it the next day!). For me, it plays up if I do something different, and its to do with the muscle its attached to. My first time followed the first time I had to have my arms in the air for Radiation prep tattooing. It annoys me if I get stressed out and upset, and pings as I call it, if Ive done too much exercise aerobically. Other than that, its right in the way of my bra strap, and it still annoys me, but I tell myself after 9 months, I will get used to it! I wish you the best of luck with your first scans, I have that all ahead of me. I had that discussion the other day with some-one about trying to practise the art of pushing things to the back of my mind. "Dont worry about what may never happen" is what I have to remind myself constantly. x Bel

I had my first I'm may this year and yeh all clear so far so good, the whole time but when they were taking longer , I thought that's right they've found something , but I was wrong. Oh how that damn brain of ours reacts, and honestly I thought great but let's hope the next years one is clear to. All the best after all you've come this far . Positive thoughts for you. Thanks Mish. I had my mamogramm & ultrasound today but I havent got the results yet. I can see a lump of 3mm that they've marked on the ultrasound. I'm trying not to think about it or stress but it's vdery hard. I hope I get the results tomottow. I don't think I can take another night of not knowing or no sleep. I'll keep you updated when I get the results.

What an absolute bugger that you have to go through all the stress and worry again tonight.

Thanks Ladies. My scans are actually tomorrow. They couldn't get me in today. My surgeon is happy so far with everything. Also got to have a colonoscopy & endoscopy next month as my grandparents both had bladder & bowel cancer so just having the procedures to be sure. Also asked doc about my portacath hurting & he sais there's no infection but probably sore from too much coughing from bronchitis. I'm getting it out in Oct if all goes well with my scans. Well off to bed to try to get some sleep but I don't think that's going to happen. Will let you all know how I go tomorrow.I'm so touched by all your support & kind words.
