It's started!
I had almost started to make myself believe that I might not lose my hair after all...how silly! Even after a couple of beautiful people on this site shared their experiences I still hoped I wouldn'...
Teresa, you can easily tell from reading your posts that your beauty comes from inside as well as out, and I think no matter how much hair a person has or how little, a great smile and a twinkle in the eye outshines the rest. It's normal to care about what other people think, it's how society brings us up to think... But I think what matters is inside, and if you feel awesome, stuf f the rest of them! Judgemental people who think it's weird are going to get over it.. it's their problem, not yours.
That said, after spending years fussing about with your hair, to suddenly have it gone is a real eye opener. It's your 'thing' and part of your personality usually, so having it missing can be pretty devastating for sure. I don't have boobs, but for someone ELSE to have an opinion on your choices and point it out is ludicrous and not very thoughtful, but I think perhaps it can be their way of trying to lesson the severity by saying it's not important. Until you've been in a person's shoes it can sometimes be confusing as to what you should or shouldn't say until you've stuck your own foot in your mouth! :)
Strutting about with a bald head is totally rad... so many people come to see me and are all shy and embarassed about it, and they are usually upset - Some people have short cropped hair, some people have patches, some people have wisps or none at all - it certainly doesn't bother me, and I see it so often it's completely 'normal' to me now... They are all beautiful, and I always make a bit effort to ensure laugh and smile before we get started picking the right style. Seeing the fear and sadness wiggle it's way out of their eyes and have them leave with a happy wave and hug truly brightens every day!! I think we'll be giving people some tips and links to this place, it's amazing to see so many of you empowering eachother and doing the very same thing - removing the scary parts whenever you can! Every bit helps. <3
