I am not at all surprised you didn't have the chemo the same day as your port - (wouuld have been toooooo much) I know how nervous you would feel about the port - I was born with arteries in the wrong place (or could have been from my child heart-surgery) any way the doctor hit one, apparently blood hit the ceiling and my 20 minute minor surgery turned into a three hour panic stations, meanwhile (lucky me!) I was blissfully unaware and didn't under stand why they wanted to 'keep me in over night'! So here I was the 'talk' of our little hospital here in regional Victoria and a surgeon that was 'ever so upset' - I was told later by my Professor Oncologist that "If any thing was to go wrong, at least I had the best man for the job" - I am here to tell the tale, so he did ok. You will be glad to have the port in, it is a whole lot easier - believe me, you will be very glad in the long run - all the best, Josie x
