Is it back????

Hi

Just looking for your feedback, as I am torturing myself with worry at the moment. I had breast cancer 3 years ago, I had a lumpectomy, chemo and radiotherapy and am now on Tamoxifen. At my recent check up they noticed something on my mammogram, it wasnt picked up with ultrasound, but because its new they have requested a stereotactic biopsy. I am really anxious, as I feel like it happening all over again. Anyone else had similar experiences?

  • Thanks Ladies, I know I'm probably stressing over nothing but I think the waiting just makes it harder. I'm wishing the week away just so I know one way or another.

  • Hi kerrip,

once you have had a diagnosis any little abnormality is worth checking out. Most times they are nothing. I have just had a cat scan and thankfully am all good. I too like Tonya had a recurrence 18mths after initial diagnosis. I am not telling you that to scare you, but to let you know that if it is a recurrence it doesn't mean it's all doom and gloom. I am now 4 years post that recurrence and doing fine.

Keep busy and what will be will be.

    Hugs.

  • Hi Kerrip, once we have a bc diagnosis,it's like it's stamped on our forehead. We get all our tests scrutinised more than the average person.I got sent for an abdo ultrasound and a full body bone scan just before Xmas because a liver enzyme blood test was slightly elevated. It's normal to be anxious while waiting for results so I just accept it and get very crappy with my husband! You won't want to hear this but I had a recurrence in the same breast 7yrs later. That was 5 yrs ago and I'm fine again.Chances are, it's nothing but if it's  not- you WILL be ok again.Big hug and fingers crossed. Tonya xx

  • Hi Kerrip, I am 12 months post treatment and no, I haven't had any scares of reoccurance yet. We all have that fear in us though. I can totally understand your anxiety, maybe they are just being extra cautious in checking you out. I know it doesn't really help you at this point, but try to keep busy and occupied while waiting for results. The waiting is the worst part, when did they say they were doing further tests? I will be thinking of you and wishing for the best outcome, sending you big hugs,

    Hazel xx
