Herceptin is only approved for use in Australia for free if you have chemo also...as the clinical trials showed this to be the most effective treatment. I had ACT-H chemo for stage 1 grade 3 Es+ Her2+ breast cancer. Offered as this is the best outcome results looking at 10 year survival (with either tamoxifen or an aramatose inhibitor also). It really made a huge difference. Maybe discuss tbe differences with your oncologist, they can show you on a tool called predict the difference with or without chemo.
I can't say I enjoyed chemo but I got through it with limited issues (herceptin caused me more issues in the end). My decision was based purely around going in for a cure...you get one shot....and I didn't want to have regrets 2 years later not trying to do the best I could for that. Kath x
