IS ANYONE TAKING ACTONEL EC

I am on Femera and last year a had bone density scan and the Femara affected my bones, so had  to have bone infusion of Aclasta. I had a bad reaction from it , so this time round taking Actonel EC once a week. Since taking it have a on going cough, feel sick and joint pain worse. It is supposed to strengthen the bones.

Is any one else taking it and if so had any side affects?.

  •  I asked my Oncologist that and she would not give me an answer said to wait till 5 years up and then will discuss it. I am seeing another Oncologist in March where I live have to travel nearly 3 hrs to see mine, so thought I would check one out in my area. I have asked around supposed to be good. Have a list of questions for him and that is one of them. Will let you know.

My hair is so thin if it keeps up thinking about a wig. Have you had this problem with the Femara?, also so tired no energy still have to have a nana nap now and again.

Let me know how you go on Wednesday.

Still scares me about it  coming back. Have a few people  I know who are 7 and 10 years on, who  have secondary cancer and have  lost a few  beautiful ladies last year.

  • Hi Deb, I am hearing reports that the desied length of treatment with Femara is now 10 years. Have you heard that as well? I will certainly be asking my Dr on Wednesday, though he is the one who has been saying that by the time I have been on it for 5 years, clinical results will be in and they will know whether 10 years is better than 5 years for Femara. Love Chris xx
  •  I do not know if it affects the bones as much. I was on it for 3mths and switched to Femara I changed to Femara once I was post menopausal, it is supposed to work better. I only have another 2 years on it so going to stick with it. Will try another drug for my bones. Let me know how you get on.

  • Hi Chris, I had a bad reaction to Aclasta for  2 days, but was sick for over aweek. First night was so bad thought I would end up in hospital. Chills, headaches, vomiting, bad joint pain, fainted . It was so bad. Thats why I decided to take once a week tablet as side effects should be less. See my Dr on the 11th decided to stop taking  it so sick from it. I am Osteopenic as well, broke bone in my knee last year. With the tablet I can not stop coughing, vomited, headaches,  dry eyes,  just feel so sick and bad back pain. Panadol did not help. When she put me on the tablet said if I got sick from it there was another tablet she would try. So over it all at the moment.
