Iron infusion
So I had my first blood test since they gave me an iron infusion 3 weeks ago and it showed my haemoglobin and red cell count have both dropped. Aren’t they supposed to go up?? Has this happened to anyone else?

- Hello @StarGirl, are you on chemo or recently finished? If your bone marrow is suppressed it may not make many red cells effectively even though you have enough iron on board. This happened to me and though my iron stores were fine, I needed blood to correct the anaemia. I had 9 units during chemo. I was constantly short of breath, but didn’t get blood until haemoglobin was quite low. Now in RT and its getting low again. I takes quite a while for the bone marrow to recover in some of us.
