Had a check up with the oncologist today and apparantly last round my blood count went REALLY low - so the day after my chemo this round I have to give myself an injection - something about neutrophils. has anyone else had to do this. I think the plan is to do this after each chemo. I think it will be hard to do this myself - hate needles at the best of times.
Guess it explains why I was so exhausted after the chemo.

I was thinking I would go to my GP, or I work with our staff health clinic and one of the girls would do it for me. So I will do either of those. Yeah it must be neulasta as she said 24hrs after chemo. Does it help you? she did say for a short time I might feel like I have the flu - do you get any side affects. might look into a pro biotic - good idea. I am feeling ok and have worked a full week this week, might be a couple of weeks before that happens again.

I have a jab of neulasta 24 hours after each chemo. I am terrified of needles too so I go back to the chemo clinic to get the nurses to administer it. Was also asked to self inject too but I did not think I could. Also, my local gp surgery was prepared to do so if I wanted but as it turn out, there was no need as I got it done back at the chemo clinic.
Btw, I took some probiotic for bloated tummy recommended by my onco before my 4th chemo and the wbc and neotrophil improved vastly. This is addition to the jab.
