I also was terrified of needles and always had to get my best friend to hold my hand whenever I had jags at school. I had neutrophenia after my 1st chemo and was hospitalized for nearly a week. I had a temperature and also had tonsillitis which I hadn't suffered from since I was 7. I don't know how I managed it but I was able to inject myself. It was quite a small needle and it helped that I had to inject into the little pudgy bit on my stomach. Didn't really feel it. I did have to give myself a major pep talk beforehand though.
