Infected seroma

After I came out of hospital from Neutropenia I still felt my seroma was not right. Saw Dr at surgery a few days later with no success...then 2 days after went to ED at hospital as inflammation had gotten worse and felt very tender.

Hooray! Dr drained some fluid and it was infected! So, back into hospital for IV antibiotics for 3 days....and no chemo this week!

Saw oncologist and breast surgeon yesterday...have different antibiotics to hopefully clear infection and not have to have an op! Chemo now set for Monday, one week later than original date.

(Suspect either physio I have been having for cording may have aggravated the seroma....and inexperienced Dr who "squeezed" fluid from it probably caused the infection!)

Hopefully  this will be the last of my sagas and I hope to breeze through from now on!

Yes...all back on track now....and hope it lasts! I'm worried what this next round will bring but hopefully it is all under control & fingers crossed this is the last of any hiccups!

Defo getting through with my twin sisters skype & chat sessions!  My moods would be even worse if not for her company! I have 2 older sisters who live in Perth (4 hours from me!) & as much as I love them, a twin sister's bond can't be compared! How lucky I am to have her....25 000 kms away feels like she is in my house when we skype!

Have a great Xmas Janey......& hope 2014 will be fantastic for you!

    Cyber hugs...Jen x

  • Thanks Deanne

No hospital visit this weekend (apart from my blood test this morning)!

All seemns to be improving although my cording has gotten worse since not being able to do too much with the seroma problem...I guess it could all be related somehow?

Hope you have a fab Christmas too...& 2014 will be a much better year for us all!

    Big hug..,Jen x

  • Hi Robyn

Hope your enjoying the weekend & celebrating your chemo finale!

My chemo is Mon 23/12.....but am determined to make Xmas a special day for my kiddies! Day 2 has usually been ok for me...although after last rounds problems I'm slightly worried about what may happen! But fingers crossed all will be well with the added meds I'm expecting!

Have a fab Xmas Robyn...doin't forget I'll be stalking you in the New Year for Tamoxifen tips!

    Big hug...Jen x

  • Your poor love. It must have been a bit scary with all that going on. At least now it's sorted and you can continue on with treatment. I hope you have a stress free and happy Christmas with your family and happy skyping with your sister. Tell her I said hello :) Sisters are always great for making us feel better aren't they. Love and hugs Janey xxx
