In the beggining

On the 6th July 2012 I went to see my local GP feeling totally exhausted mentally and physically I knew something was wrong. He sent me for blood tests, ultrasound and mammogram and prescribed lovan (medication for depression) I was a bit annoyed as Iam and have never been depressed. I have to go back seven years. Seven years ago I had a double breast reduction (they took almost 6kg in total) When I returned for the after operation check I was told that they had found some abnormal tissue (precancer) in my right breast. Nothing was done about it but I had to have mammograms and ultrasounds every 12 months after the first two years I got busy, got a job and continued on with life and didn't have my mammograms.  Naughty me. So when I felt like crap I saw my dr had the tests, when having the mammogram I saw the look on the radiographer's face an knew she had found something. We talked and she mentioned biospy which was done a few days later. My doctor had to take sick leave so I was passed onto one of his collegues who requested me to attend the clinic days before my  designated appointment. I guessed that this was bad news so in less than a month I had been diagnosed with an infiltrating DCIS grade 2 I am to have my isotape injection for sentinal node on the 4th Sept and hookwire and surgery on the 5th so its still a waiting game.I guess I better get used to that. I take each day as it comes

  • Welcome to this site but sorry you've had to join the breast cancer ride. It sounds like everything has gone smoothly so far. I guess you'll know in 2  weeks  what your treatment plan will be.In the meantime just rest and recover. Blog back here as there is always someone to chat to.We have all either been or are going through a similar journey.I've had bc twice in the same breast- once in 2003 and then in 2010 and have endured all the treatments except reconstruction. I am fine now and enjoying life after making several changes. This is a wonderful site- you will get lots of practical info.,support and friendship and the opportunity to journal or vent your thoughts/feelings.
