  • Hi Wendy, it’s Lisa from the Policy Team. I have had a look at the Australian Clinical Trials website and there is one early (Phase 2) clinical trial that is looking at immunotherapy in relation to women living with secondary breast cancer.

Like you have said, immunotherapy is a developing area and we would expect more clinical trials in the future.

    Warm regards,
    Lisa

  • hi michelle, thanks for your information, I have done some checking and the cancer council gave a grant of $1.5 million dollars last year to the victorian cancer council for research into imunotherapy for a 5 year research program so it looks like we are following the USA I also believe that research is being undertaken at the Olivia Newton John Cancer and Wellness Centre, its something that I will be following with great interest,

  • Hi Wendy,

I contacted the Mayo Clinic a few months ago to ask about immunotherapy trials for TNBC which were taking place in the USA.  Their criteria for eligibility was quite strict and had to be within 12 months of treatment.  I didn't qualify, but they let me know the details and were very helpful.

There are also clinics in Germany who practise immunotherapy - they can be googled online.

I agree that it is going to be the way of the future. Still a way off for us here at home though.

Keep in touch with things you may find out.  xx  Michelle
