IMMUNE SYSTEM NOT COPING

I've now broken out in a hideous rash which covers my neck, up into hair line, shoulders, chest, stomach, tops of legs, partial back and top of arms. Doctor was horrified, picked up the phone and got me into a Specialist next Wednesday. I became a bit frustrated yesterday and my 13yo daugher put her arm around me saying "what's wrong Mum". I replied "look at me, I'm covered from head to toe in this horrible rash, my boobs as I knew them are gone, I've got scars, I just don't recognise me anymore". Her reply "Mum, it could be worse, you could still be bald"! I cracked up laughing because she is so right.

  • Hi girls, thanks for your posts.  I too thought it may have been drug related as I'd recently started taking Glucosamine and thought it may be a reaction, however the specialist said it's very bad eczema. He went on to say it can be linked to chemically induced menopause (chemo) which is exactly what happened to me. I'm on prednisolone, liberal applications of Elocon cream and a phenergan at night for itching and to help sleep. I gotta say, for an over the counter drug phenergan does a wonderful job for sleeping. So in the big picture it's all good. x

  • Kath ,you poor darl-where did that spring from?Sounds drug related. If your lips or tongue swell up go straight to hosp.It happened to me many years ago- broke out in hives then welts and big lips.Had a reaction to aspirin. Your daughter sounds very mature to look for the positive. It's usually the other way around.Doesn't sound like you'll get the pleasure of feeling sorry for yourself at your place!

  • Oh Kath!  What a bummer - I totally understand your feeling a little low about it all!  But thank God for our kids at times like these - to them being bald is just the worst!  I too was feeling a little low about all the scars etc when My son said Mum - you'll always have a hole in your boobie won't you?  - Yes mate - Can I play footy today?  Sure... :-)

I hope you are mending and the rash is gone!
