It is so unfair that money has to be an issue for us all who have already faced so much. But it is I think Ree it might be a state thing. I'm in NSW and the public system will pay for my reconstruction with tissue expanders and then the implant but will not touch the contralateral breast, so I would have to go to a private hospital for symmetry. I am in a privae health fund and would still be out of pocket $5000. It really is a disgrace. In America they passed an act stating that if a health fund covers you for breast cancer treatment it has to cover the reconstruction and reduction or mamoplasty on the unaffected breast so a women is left balanced. I thought we were the leaders here in Australia we put so much into research but need more funds put into life beyond cancer. Good luck to everyone, may we all make the right choices and go on to lead happy and healthy lives
