I'm really really scared

I received a diagnosis of grade 3 triple negative breast cancer yesterday and I'm petrified.

Seeing a consultant tomorrow - I don't really know what to expect.

I have 2 small children, this is such a shock.

  • Hi Mimmy,

Everyone on this network knows what you are feeling. When you first hear those words " you have breast cancer" it is definitely a shock. Please know that we are all here for you. Like all of us,  you to will take your own time to come to terms with it, just take it a day at a time. Your loved ones will be there for you. Let them share the load. Your medical team will also be there for you to answer all of the questions you have. Remember you are never alone.

    Cheers Jen ?? ?? ??

  • Hi mimmy

unfortunately welcome to this lovely group ??I'm so sorry to hear your diagnosis, I was diagnosed in May this year with grade 3 triple neg.it is very scary and overwhelming especially with young kids, make sure you ask lots of questions and re ask those questions if you need too. I really recommend having someone with you as well as I found my head was in a fog and I couldn't absorb anything in the beginning.goodluck sweetie ??I will be thinking of you

    big hugs ????????Nat xx

  • Hey mimmy.

So sorry sbout your diagnosis. Its natural to be scared i recall the deep shock i felt. I was diagnosed may 2014.

Hope you are taking someone with you tomorrow because its easy to feel overwhelmed at the beginning and miss or misinterpret information given to you. Take a notebook to write things down and make sure to getvtge my journey kit from bcna. Its a fantastic reference. Just take a day and appointment at a time.

Please stay positive worrying achieves nothing so focus all your energy into getting better.

And make sure you stay connected with us. We have all been there and understand what you are going through.

Sending lots of positiveness your way.??????

  • Hello, and welcome to the online network! Stay connected on here, and you will get  all the support that you need. After you get over the initial shock, things will start to fall into place, and you will feel more in control.Write everything down at your appointments, and if possible, take someone with you.I was not triple neg. but I have a friend who was,and that was 3 years ago, just before my diagnosis. She has three daughters, and now is fitter than she has ever been.Remember that triple negative responds well to treatment.Take it one day at a time and you WILL get through this,Cheers Robyn xox

  • Hi m1mmy

Sorry that you have joined us. At the moment just remember to breathe and think positive.

I was diagnosed TNBC on 1 October 2015, and like you I was scared and terrified. I now know so much more then what l did on day one.

When you see the consultant tomorrow make sure you have someone with you to try and take it all in. Take notes is you wish, and ask any question that comes into your head.

Good luck, lots of hugs and best wishes for tomorrow.

  • Hi Mimmy

so sorry you are in this situation. This a great place to get information and support. I too was diagnosed triple negative bc, last December. It is a shock but please know this- it is very treatable and there are lots of women on this site who have/had this diagnosis. It is very early days yet and you need to know what stage your bc is and your treatment plan then you can get started to kick its butt! You mentioned that your bc is grade 3, that is usual with triple negative. The good thing about that is that it is very responsive to chemotherapy.

Hang in there, and wait to hear the rest of your pathology report, and your consultants plan of action. You can do this!
