I'm really really scared

l had a lumpectomy on 7 Oct 15 to remove 22mm tumour and 8 lymph nodes- (3 had cancer).

l am doing 6 cycles of chemo - 3 x FEC & 3 x Docetaxol over 18 weeks, and then 6 weeks radiation. 

My surgeon was very good and so is my oncologist.

Had my first chemo on 10 Nov, and while first few days were a bit tiring, feeling good now and ready for next cycle on 1 Dec.

I feared the surgery and chemo but so far so good, heaps better than I had expected. So from now on l will leave fear behind me.

also make sure you book in for the feel good look better workshop. I went last week and it was so much fun.

Yes, the initial shock phase passes. I felt a lot calmer after I had surgery. Then I approached the chemo and radiation schedule like a D Day Field Marshall - as prepared as I could be! Lots of lists.

And I endorse what Rowdy said - take any offer of help, whether you think you need it or not. This is a very special time in your life, when you can be surrounded by care and support. It's wonderful to hear that you have a good support network.

Hi M1MMY and welcome.

I am new here too, also have grade 3 which docs are treating as triple negative as I had such exceptionally low receptor status.

It is very scary and a total whirlwind blur in the beginning. Once you know more about you type and have whatever surgery is recommended things do become much clearer and a little easier to understand.

Take it all one day at a time. I had great results from surgery and have just finished chemo. Triple negatives respond really well to chemo so fingers crossed. There are so many really supportive ladies on this site, ask as many questions as you need, there are always people here to help!

The specialists are really good at what they do, just make sure you ask about anything you don't understand, even if it's a few days after your appointments, ring because they are there to help!

I'm sorry this has happened. Having small kids makes it doubly hard, but I have to say my daughter also gives me the strength to do whatever it takes to survive. Plus her hugs and kisses kill cancer too.

have you made contact with your breast cancer nurse yet? They are your best advocate and sounding board through this process. They have the medical knowledge, plus experience, plus they are an independent third party.

It was such a shock - I'm so much better today and I'm going to all I can to stay positive.  It's early days I know.  I do have some great people around me who have been wonderful, I've started telling them the news now.  Thank you so much!! x
