I'm going home!

I have finally finished my 35 radiation treatments and the school term is nearly finished so its time to packs up and make the 1200km journey home with the dog and the kids. I can't wait. Right now I need to be back at home with my stuff and back to some form of normal. I'm happy that the bulk of my treatment is finished(still have herceptin) but have been surprised at how emotional I've have been lately. Think it's all catching up with me. Thank god that marathon is over...onwards and upwards from here. Tash

  • Well done Tashie, I wish you well in all you do ,yes it's now about trying to get some "normality" back in your life. I have just finished 12 months of Herceptin (last Tuesday) I must say it was a lot easier than the chemo & takes a lot less time too!! I too had a bit of emotional melt down knowing that hopefully it's all over for awhile :-)) but I can think of no better place to relax and mend than in your own home with family &  friends. I wish you well with this. Take Care Kek xxx

  • Yes this journey is far from over and you do need to take things slowly. I had quite a few meltdowns after radiation and we can be our own worst enemy if we try to do too much too soon. Enjoy being back in your own home but give yourself time to recover both physically and emotionally. As Robyn says, putting yourself first will benefit everyone else in the long run, and we all want and deserve a long healthy cancer free life. The worst is behind you but take it in baby steps as you adjust back to a new normal. Take care. Deanne xxx
  • Congratulations on getting through all if your treatment and especially for having to do it all away from home. I wish you all the very best as you get back home and that you get back to normal ASAP....although I think for me, once treatment is over, it's going to be a whole new kinda normal....but in a very good way! Have a safe trip. Maryanne x
