Hi Jo,
You are stronger than you think. You've gone through childbirth, knee operations and what ever else life has thrown at you. There is no skirting around this one -you have to go through it cos the alternative is too awful to contemplate.Lots of women have a "one off"cancer and never any more problems.I was in the unlucky 8% that get it back in the same boob despite radiation. It was still classed as early breast cancer and it's nowhere else so they expect I'll live a long life now.In the 'cancer world"I'm one of the lucky ones!Naturally I haven't got my confidence back yet about living that long life. But I've changed how I look at cancer. It's not just one disease but many.Even breast cancer can be divided into many different types.I had eostrogen +ve which is more favourable. I see it as something I have to live with like any other affliction eg.diabetes, heart /kidney conditions, stroke. In fact they are probably worse.Cancer is not the scary killer it used to be but we still freak out at the thought.Write all your questions down for your surgeon's visit and take someone with you cos you might not take it all in.You will feel better when you have a plan and a date but expect to feel up and down till then(mostly down!)Use this time to ask the ladies here about various treatments.Although we are all different and will give our own personal slant,it will help you clarify in your mind what feels right for you.
