Hi there, I have read all your messages with interest because I am in the same position as many of you are/were.
I had lumpectomy last December, have just finished chemo and am due to start rads in a couple of weeks because I had a positive sentinal node with no ALND.
I have recently become aware that due tona health problem in my adolescence I have a higher likelihood of more breast cancers in either breast and so have spoken with my breast surgeon (Cindy Mak) about having a bilateral mastectomy with reconstructions early next year. She told me that no-one was likely to agree to implants due to the rads so my best option would be TRAM or DIEP. I've been doing some research and have found that the are PAP and TUG (upper thigh) flaps being done quite frequently in the USA and these seem to be less invasive and give a really good look.
Does anyone here know if there are any surgeons who are doing those types of flap surgeries in Sydney?
Would also be interested in finding out if the costs were about what you expected or more/less?
regards Jenn
