i know I said I was getting bored but gee whiz!!

Day 9 - after round five.

Slept relatively well! I felt really good when i opened my eyes....I thought this could be a good day.....until i actually stood up!

The hangover was still there :(...so annoying! But i did my exercises and had brekky.

Hubby came to collect me and took me into work for a bit and that's when the day went pear shaped. On the way home I asked to go to the local shops to get stuff for dinner so no one would have to go out later.....all good found a parking straight away...get out of the car...I hear muffled swear word from the other side of the car.....

Get around to hubby's side and find him doubled over, grasping his finger....I see blood pouring furiously from it onto the ground! I go to the glove box and grab a bunch of serviettes to wrap quickly around his finger.....he had crushed his finger in the car door!... luckily there is a new medical centre in our local shops now...I rushed him there, but not before he had to sit down....he was in a great deal of pain!

Get straight into the Dr .....Hubby just wants a band-aid and a Panadol...Nope! nurse cleans the wound and gives him a tetanus shot, then sends him for X-Rays next door.

Got results of X-Ray, non displaced fracture of the finger tip! Back to the Dr we go...hubby wants a band-aid and a Panadol...Nope! see the physio at the centre for a splint and he has to stay in it for 6 weeks!

Once hubby had settled we still needed to do a few things, so we soldiered on to Flower Power Pet Barn to get food for Rusty.

No problem, park straight away....get out of the car ad there's a very frail old man standing in the middle of the car park on two walking sticks....after watching him, we approach and ask if he is OK? He says yes and takes a few very slow steps...We decide to help him, while asking how he got there...he looked lost and he could barely walk. He told us he had a fall a while ago and had broken his hip. I called for a chair and we walked with him till we got to the shade and sat him down...He was exhausted..His wife soon appeared from the shop and explained how her husband had fallen three times and was waiting for surgery, we had a bit of a chat and then they were on their way.....

We continued on to get Rusty's food and said to each other how sad we felt for the couple.....and that could possibly be us one day.....but we felt good that we could provide some help and make him feel safe until his wife returned.....

I wondered how do they get on?...if they had anyone to help them at home or in general...he was so frail and virtually immobile....she was elderly herself and all bent out of shape.....but they grabbed onto each other and got in their car and drove away.....just goes to show how tough we really are when there is no other choice and how love can conquer all.

I know I complained at how bored I was getting, but gee whiz!

It's been a BIG afternoon and we are exhausted! Hubby got his Panadol but no band- aid.... expecting to sleep well tonight.....Tomorrow I'm not going ANYWHERE!

Night all

OMG, bit of a. Murphys Law day. Isn't it always the way, once it starts rolling, it just gets ridiculous. Sending you a big cuddle, Trace ????????

  • Big day indeed!!!! It must feel good that you can do all that now on Day 9 compared to those other days which lay us flat. Hope hubby's fingers improves soon. It must've hurt a lot!! What a nice thing to do checkin on the old couple. It warms my heart because my parents are very unwell and there are so many elderly people who could really benefit from a little more kindness from strangers. Such a simple gesture can be the highlight of their week.

    Take care

  • Goodness!  Your day was full of compassion and the reminder that you can fix your boredom - that elderly couple that you mentioned, isn't it sad they are victims of the system and you can only hope they have family or neighbours as a support network to help them along.  We all have each other in this virtual space to help us!

    Take care
