I have IBC
Hi Wendy
Yes I have inflammatory breast cancer. I was diagnosed 22 October 2010, almost 6 weeks ago. I am going through chemo now, so it has only just begun for me. It is a very scary time for me a...
Hi
It sounds like your treatment went really well. When I was first diagnosed, I was going to go private. My husband and I had discussed it and we thought it would be the best option. I spoke to so many medical people - doctors, surgeons, breast care nurses and they all said I would get exactly the same treatment in publics as I would in private. So we decided to stick with public and it has been good but I believe many of my treatments were rushed without looking further into the history of IBC. Anyway there is no turning back now and I just need to do what has to be done to get through this.
I have only had a little bit to do with Choices at Wesley. I have spoken to a breast care nurse there about my treatment but that's about it. There was a IBC talk on in early Feb. but I had just had my surgery and was still in hospital so I could not attend, but I really wanted to go. There needs to be more information about IBC and how it is treated.
I will find you on FB and then I will invite you to join the IBC group. It is for women with IBC or BC mets and they are very supportive. Sometimes I do get a little overwhelmed with all the information but I'm learning to sift through what relates to me and what doesn't. There is also an IBC mailing list through the internet. If you google IBC support you will find the web page. Again many of these woman are in the US and you really need to sift through the information or it does become very overwhelming and sometimes worrying. The support is very good and you can get many questions answered through these groups.
I will go now and try to find you on FB. My name on FB is 'Paula Gibson Draper'. I live in Greenbank, near Springfield Lakes.
Lovely talking with you
