I forgot the tumour

Hi everyone,

I had forgotten to mention previously that after I had my mastectomy they discovered a 3.5cm tumour on my chest wall that the mammogram hadn't detected.  This is the reason for my needing to have chemotherapy as the tumour was over 3cm and could have shed cancer cells to elsewhere in the body.

I am pleased, although saddened, to know that I am not the only one whose friends have up and left.  I find this whole experience so confusing as when the tables were reversed it was me who was always calling and taking food but now when I need support I am all alone, except for darling hubby who is absolutely brilliant.  And my three kids who still fight like cats and dogs but can pull together when I need help.

This treatment has been the pits so far.  I have had endless bouts of nausea, masses of ulcers and my body just aches all over.  Anyway no use grumbling, I mean what if I had never had the mammogram in the first place.

Cheers for now, Jayne

  • I hate mouth and throat ulcers! I have so many that I'd rather spit than swallow.  I have tried a mouth gargle that is supposed to numb but how do numb your throat.  Any suggestions?

  • Hi Jayne.  I agree with Cheryl, the only other thing I could offer is that, although it mightn't feel this way, you are not alone, you are a part of all of the women who have, who are, and who will travel down this road.  I am thinking of you and sending you a smile and a hug!

I am only a few weeks in past diagnosis, and have already noticed my phone decidedly quiet.  I thought about getting a tech out and then realised, nope, its me.... Oh well.

With all we have to endure, disappointment it seems is also a bitter pill we have to swallow.  I know its no consolation, but they probably just don't know what to say, or can't identify or deal with my realitity - I can't hold it against them.  So be it.

Anyway, hope you got my grin and cyber 'Hi!' mate, and travel well.
