- MiraMemberThanks @Tinks I was up at the hospital today for my mammo/ultrasound and they've switched to Qld Xray and said I can go to the one nearest to my home next time. The lady who did it today said she works at the local one to me too!
- TinksMember@Mira congratulations on your news! Unfortunately most Breastscreen services are temporarily closed, if not all now...🤔
- MiraMemberThanks shs14, it feels great
- shs14MemberWhat a wonderful post to read! Congratulations :)
- MiraMemberThanks @iserbrown , I wonder if I have to see my GP for the physical exam or the breast clinic. I have my mammo booked for a couple of weeks time (fingers crossed I can still go), so I expect the breast clinic appointment will be soon after.

If you have had a previous diagnosis of breast cancer
You can have free breast screens with BreastScreen Victoria if:
- it’s more than five years since your breast cancer diagnosis and your doctor is supportive
- you have discussed screening with your doctor
- you bring all your previous films
- you see your doctor for annual physical examinations.
- MiraMember@Caz1 Mine was fairly straight forward I think. A lumpectomy/no node involvement, radiation and hormone tablets. There was one node last year that was a bit iffy and they had trouble testing, but they said it was negative.
It does feel weird. I didn't mind going in to the hospital for my checkups, they were all such lovely people. I still have to go in for my mammo & breast clinic appointments, but the oncologist said she'd discharge me to Breastscreen for future mammos (from next year). I thought Breastscreen didn't do it if we have a history of bc, so I don't know! - Caz1MemberCongratulations lovely!!!! Must feel weird!
Is there really no follow up after five years?! ( I’m at the beginning of my journey compared to you )
I binned my chemo appointment cards. Don’t want to be reminded, that’s just me...onwards I go!
xx - MiraMemberThanks @Dory65 I saw mine for 5 years, it's a good feeling
- Dory65MemberCongratulations! <3 I can't wait to break up with mine, and we've only been dating four months.
