Hi Janice ...welcome to the TNBC group ...a club none of us planned on joining but here we are !
I'll be 50 in a few weeks and I had a double mastectomy last November and chemo. I had days when I wondered if I'd ever feel " normal " again but step by step it DOES get less scary . Be kind to yourself . Keep away from Dr Google ... he's not very therapeutic ! Listen to your treating Doctors, ask questions and if you're not completely happy it's okay to ask for another opinion too . People understand that it's hard to take it all in .
If you feel you're struggling emotionally it can be really helpful to get some counselling . If you don't feel positive all the time it doesn't mean your doing it "wrong" ...it just means you're human and that you're scared . All of us here understand ..... I don't think there's a single one of us who haven't had moments of terror. Many of the breast units have psychologists attached who are very familiar with all the issues around a cancer diagnosis , treatment and survivorship .
Hang in there ....day by day. Things will probably feel less overwhelming once you have a treatment plan and can get on with it . The waiting is really hard . Roll on the 27th xxx Karen
