Hysterectomy
Hi everyone I am off to the hospital now, to have my hysterectomy this afternoon.
Feeling a bit nervous.
I was doing really good until people start asking me what I was having removed and I sai...
I have had my ovaries and tubes removed, whammo hot flushes. Which I would have had after chemo anyway, as the the chemo made me menopausal.
My cancer was hormone+ so I cannot have hormone therapy to help with my hot flushes. All I have found so far and it's early days yet. Some foods and hot drinks (coffee) make the flushes worse. Drinking lots of water, staying hydrated and keeping my temperature cool seems to be the way to go. Waking up in the early hours all hot flustered and sweaty is not pleasant to say the least. Though I figur my body is getting hot and trying to cool down.
On the other hand I have a friend way further along her journey. Also hormone+ breast cance. She has had her uterus removed and a mastectomy. She is on a small dose of hormone, prescribed by her oncologist.
So speak to your oncologist if in doubt.
All the best Dot, Maria333
