Hi @LisaO, I would absolutely see another person if you weren't comfortable with the first psychologist. I've been seeing a psychologist myself. I asked for a referral from my oncologist and then got the plan from the GP.
Any part of this cancer journey is hard going, regardless of how much or little treatment a person has. You're entitled to feel how ever you feel. Do what you need to do to start feeling better within yourself.
Personally it's done a world of good to talk to someone not directly involved with my cancer journey. My psychologist has assisted in just bringing me back to the now and reminding me that my feelings, whatever they are, are valid.
