JenAli,
I hear what you are saying about your feelings swinging. Since my mastectomy last year and now facing the next one, I still have these thoughts going through my head with the word radical popping in all the time. But for me and my family, I know it is the best thing to do.
I had an appointment with my plastic surgeon last week and was told I can do it all in one operation this time and will go straight to implant. He knows that size as he did the other one and I did the latissmus dorsi flap reconstruction and this will need to be done on the left side as well to protect the implant. It is relief to only have one surgery after 4 in the last 11 months. I am on tamoxifen until the surgery (following lumpectomy) and feeling surprisingly well with no side effects.
Good luck with the exchange next week. It will feel much more comfortable (as I once read like going from stilettos to ugg boots) and my breast is starting to look better than the real one but of course still numb. I lost my nipple as well and he plans to do that reconstruction during the next op. At this stage, I should be able to keep it on the left side.
take care xx
