Hi Kylie, I feel for you and the decision you have to make. I cannot believe that their are so many differing opinions from the experts about DCIS. Somebody said to me earlier this year, when I was first diagnosed, to get more than one opinion and that you will know which one is right for you. At the time I thought - that is crazy! How am I going to make this decision. As the last few months have gone by (first diagnosed in January) I have gone through a lot of information and have had to make some very important decisions. Initially I googled everything, I asked Doctors hundreds of what seemed stupid questions, and I even would visit my GP just for a chat about what information and at what stage of the decision making stage I was up to. I think out of all of what has happened just talking to my GP was the most important of all of this. Yes I needed all the info first, but using my GP as my counsellor, was the best thing. She didnt judge or even make any recommendations, she just listened to where I was at on that particular day. In the past month, I gradually started to make my decisions, and it seemed that as I made each decision, it took a huge weight of my shoulders. It is a process, but you will gradually make the decisions that will be right for you.
