Hi Kazfoz
it is a lot to take in, all of a sudden you need to become familiar with a subject that you don't want to know about! In my experience, my breast surgeon and plastic surgeon have not raised the subject of surgery on the healthy breast other than a possible lift to achieve symmetry with the reconstructed breast further down the track. Is that something that you raised with them first or did they suggest you take this course of action? Is there something in the other breast that you are concerned about? Perhaps they can only do the DIEP reconstruction once? Of course if you retain the healthy breast, it will need to be monitored closely with annual mammograms etc. I'm booked in for surgery on March 20, and in the meantime am getting through a list of fun things to do while I'm still intact, swimming, yoga, massage, romantic getaway with husband etc. I will think of you on the 28th, which is my birthday. All the best, Mary-Leigh
