How long does hair take to fall out?
I'm on my second round of chemo and my hair has started falling out- but just bits and pieces. In the mean time it looks terrible and I can't style it because my scalp hurts. I cut it into a short pixie to make the falling out process less awful but now it's all flat and weird looking so I'm keeping it covered. There is hair all over the place but it's still not falling out full-scale. I don't feel like I'd be able to shave it either as my scalp feels too sensitive. What did you ladies do? (I'm attaching a picture of my recent pixie cut. I can't get it to look like that now because every time I try moving my hair it hurts and I get a handful of hair, now it looks all squashed and patchy. Also I don't look as chirpy as that at the moment, my neck has gone kind of fat too).)

- My profile pic shows my natural colour a month before starting chemo, so it's something to compare the new hair to!
- Ah yes, mine is exactly the same, I forgot to mention along the hairline at the back. That hair around the ears and neckline is the colour of my old hair, very dark, but sparse. The fuzz is a lighter redder brown. I like the lighter colour too! But I didn't have much grey before chemo, just a bit starting at the temples, and that's where the hair is still bald at the moment. It's still very short right now, probably a number 1, so I'll wait till it gets longer for the buzz. Good to know my experience is similar to yours! I'm hoping for curls when it grows back, I've wanted them all my life!
- Yep. Exactly where my hair still was. I had lovely fine but sparse short hair around my ears and a little bit at the back just above my neckline. Then a mass of soft fuzz grew which was when I decided it could all go down to the same very short length. My sister in law was amazed at how soft it was whilst my mother in law was teary. The new hair was a lovely marbled grey/brown colour. I was the only one who liked it! My normal colour, dark brown has now grown back and I have very strong chemo curl fuzz, whereas before chemo it had a slight wave. The strange things that chemo does.
- @Blossom1961 I've been thinking of that! It's still fuzz really except around the ears where it looks like normal hair but as sparse as a baby's. Pretty weird. Definitely can't rock this look and keep it covered if in public. Although during this COVID 19 crisis there isn't much "public" any more
- @KylieG I spent my chemo days with a patchy scalp. Mostly bald with a few stubborn hairs refusing to budge. But when my hair started growing back I had my sister in law shear my head to a level three so it would grow back more evenly. It mostly worked and I felt much better about myself.
- My hair's growing back now but only in patches... fml ... and I've got a balding man's hairline!
- It was so wonderful to be able to rub your bald head. It really eased the hurt. I used to moisturize it as very dry at times from chemo.
