How long between chemo & radiotherapy

Thanks heaps Tanya, that's very helpful. I would like to stay with my daughter in Townsville, but she is out of town, will be working & I will need to get to & from the hospital for the 6 weeks. My Mum & Dad stayed at the lodge while he was having radium a few years ago. I remember going there with him & Mum when they went to book in & the staff were so friendly. I'll give the Cancer Council a call & see what we can arrange. Yes, I know it's probably too early, but I AM a capricorn & I need to be organised.

I am near Townsville, and had all my treatment in Townsville, so if you need me to ask some questions in Townsville for you or find out some information for you, I am more than happy to help you out.  Radiation is only available in Townsville at the General Hospital, there is no radiation machine at either of the Private hospitals.  They also have the Cancer Council Glutas lodge where you can stay while receiving Radiation and they offer a free bus service from accommodation to the Hospital daily.  Phone number for the Cancer Council Townsville (accommodation lodge) is 07 47968400.

I appreciate your replies & that does help. I am hoping to have the radiotherapy in Townsville & don't know the waiting period for there. The chemo I am getting here in New Cal, but they don't have the facilities here for radiotherapy & I will have to travel back to Australia for that. The language barrier (french) doesn't help when I'm trying to find out information & it's just so much easier to ask here. So thanks again for your help.

My gap between chemo and Radiation was 4 weeks but mainly because of Christmas and New Year. last chemo was 9th Dec and first Radiation 6th Jan. It's a walk in the park compared to chemo. Just get a bit tired with the travelling and the daily visits.I finished last Friday and so far have had very little skin reaction other than redness.

I waited 2 months for my radiation, due to the number of patients already booked in.  I had my radiation at Ballarat, Vic and they are extremely busy, as they only have 1 machine and they service a HUGE rural area.  I was a little anxious at the wait, but my onco assured me anything up to 6 months wait would be fine.

hi wendy, i was 3 weeks between finishing my chemo and starting radio, but i would think it depends on how many patients they have, i had mine in royal adelaide, i had 6 weeks, mon to fri, hope this helps, but i am sure other ladies from various parts of the country will help as well. good luck Moira
