Home from surgery

Just got home from the hospital a short time ago- yah! The surgery took place yesterday afternoon about 2:30 p.m. and last about an hour - not that I had a clue! Wow, they really give you the good stuff for these things let me tell you!

My surgeon came in to see me last night and said that everything went well and that she removed the 2 lymph nodes closest to the tumour to be tested.  She said there was nothing visible there which hopefully means no cancer - but at least seems to mean that it isn't bad if it is there.  I have 2 small incisions, one under my breast and the other in my armpit where the lymph nodes were taken.  I have a smurf boob (hee hee) from the dye which will apparently be that way until it fades and even my wee is blue from the radioactive dye they put in my (probably waaaaay to much information for you all!).  I am a little bit sore today but certainly nothing unbearable.  I am just very relieved to have it out of me and hopefully (with a bit of luck and lots of prayers!), I will find out Wednesday that I am cancer free.

So, we will find out then what, if any, other treatments are needed such as chemotherapy, radiation, or more surgery to remove more lymph nodes. 

This experience is certainly testing every last bit of patience I have.  Trevor has always made fun of me for being so incredibly inpatient so the waiting is soooo hard! Grrrr.

    great t hear you got through the op without too much trouble, and fingers crossed for your outcome of it all, i know what yu mean, about being an expert on bc lol, i think its the only illness that really makes you want all the good  information you can grab, unfotunately there are always the scare mongers around, but i learnt very early on, to have only positive people in my life while going through it, and the other is be patient... emmm.....we are women... we want things done now... but i have learnt now to take things as they come. take care and let us know how you are doing.     Thanks so much Chrissy....I'm the same...give me knowledge, give me knowledge! I feel like a bc expert already - lol!  This site and having the support of all of these wonderful women has made this challenge so much more bearable. Thank you for your support!

    I hope we get to meet in person soon too.

    How is Nathan? I was just talking to a nurse at the surgeons office the other day and I said to her that people like her (and Nathan) come into our lives at our lowest and have the potential to make a real mark on our lives and make a crap situation OK,  they can't change that we have cancer but can make a scan bearable, a long wait seem short.  She kinda looked at me like "oh i really didnt realise I could make a difference".  Its not like I like to flash my boobs to anyone :0

    Anyway it is good to hear you sounding better about the whole thing, I would love to catch up one day soon for a cuppa and a chat, fingers crossed for the all clear.

    I am having my expander exchange surgery on 22nd February, hopefully that is my last surgery.

    My youngest started school yesterday so I was a little lost yesterday for a whole minute..... just kidding i did miss them  :(

    So happy to hear that the surgery is over for you.  I did stop and think of you yesterday and knew that you were in good hands.

    I had to go into Townsville on Tuesday and saw the surgeon (Breast and reconstruction guy).

    Patience is not something that I am good at either!!

    Hopefully the results are good and you are all finished.

    Thanks for letting us all know how you got on, glad you are home and hope that you are being spoilt rotten.
