Home from surgery

Hi all

Home again from a lumpectomy and axillary clearance on Monday afternoon. Surprised at how straightforward it was. Panadol mostly to follow up. One tablet of Endone for my second night's sleep only. So pain relief has been very good. The hospital and staff were wonderful.

Carrying around a drain and cannister for now, which is surprisingly OK and have started the exercises. While in hospital I had a full body bone scan and CT scans. Talk about feeling like science fiction when you have the big magnet rotating around you. The scans are all negative which is good news for now. Visiting the surgeon next Tuesday for full pathology results and onto the next stage which will involve chemo and radiation. I think this lumpectomy thing might be the easy bit. :)

Thinking of you all who are in the same boat, those about to get in, and those who are seasoned sailors. Cheers.

  • Hi Rivergum, It's such a relief isn't it when the first part is over. You've taken the first step and stayed upright :) You've still had an operation though so take it easy and don't overdo things for a while. Good luck in Tuesday. Love Janey xxx

  • It's never as bad as you think! THE MOST IMPORTANT thing is to keep doing your exercises.you will save yourself a lot of problems further along.it is great news that your scans are clear. All the best for Tuesday, but whatever the news is,you will manage.xoxoxRobyn

  • Glad to hear you haven't had too much drama. Looking back now i can say that the lumpectomy was the easier part, although, i am only part way through treatment. Surgery is just one step in the process, but that's what we do, one step at a time. Hope you continue to improve and my best wishes to you,
