I reckon we're not so much in the same boat as navigating similar seas! I'm Heather, in January I was diagnosed w cancer in my left breast, and last wednesday (same day as you?) had a mastectomy & axillary clearance. I don't have any children, and I'm a bit older than you (I'm 46) but I reckon we're grappling with similar shocks. I'll be getting my pathology results on Friday, so maybe we should compare notes then. But things are going really well for me -- I stayed only 2 nights in hospital, and I think my drain will be coming out this morning, too.
Anyway I just wanted to say I'm feeling the weirdness here in Adelaide (where are you?) and thinking of you. Your pfofile pic is great, your face is telling a story of concern & hope & strength all at once. Go well, and don't be shy about using this place to 'vent' -- the good, the bad, the ugly.
