Hey Tingy,
I had Chemo August last year and finished in December. Im now 8 months post Chemo and have only booked a trip now for October. I was really ill all through Chemo and severe side effects, unfortunately when I finished treatment I thought Id be over it all just like that. My Oncologist and Oncology Nurse said it can take up to a year to recover from side effects. Ihad alot of trouble walking after Chemo and I used to be very fit and healthy. The fatigue keeps going for a while after you finish.
I would say I am only now starting to feel very normal, Im now on Arimidex and working 3 days but not able to do full time still. I too wanted to do a trip at the end, but I wanted to wait until I felt really well to enjoy it.
Ive been really bursting for this, I feel such a need now to get away, its been so very difficult, so Im looking forward to it.
Otis is a foundation for a getaway, it sounds good, but when I looked into it, all the destinations generally are only good for during the week, no weekends and no holidays. This didnt suit me.
Have you started treatment yet?? with rads on top of Chemo, the fatigue will be very challenging as rads is cumulative so I had that 5yrs ago and the fatigue lasted long after the treatment. I had a recurrence last year so no rads, can only do once, had to do chemo :(
Be guaged by how you feel, you'll know when the right time is for you.
Hugs
