High grade DCIS
After a mammogram guided core biopsy my surgeon rang to say I had DCIS and he would need to remove a small area which would probably be all that was necessary.
A few days later he did a lumpectom...

I had DCIS with micro invasion back first op was Dec 2010 nearly a year ago. Same thing they thought it was all out but not clear margins. I in the end due to family history had a bi lateral mastectomies and had tissue expanders put in. My left one has played up from day dot and since been re operated on and taken out as it slipped from behind my muscle. I am now waiting to heal for a while to have it put back in and try again.
I wont lie it hurts like pain you will prob never have felt before having a bilateral done and also the pressure from the expanders is not pleasant. But even though I have been through hell with it all I still do want to try the tissue expander way first and if not successful than I havemy belly that can be there in reserve (plenty of it too lol)
I am prob one of the very few unlucky ones who have had dramas with expanders but it doesnt stop me from wanting to try again.
Atm I have breast forms I use in my bras which arent cheap but got 800 back from medicare. I do like them but I like to wear nice tops etc and find sometimes if I bend over the forms come away from my chest and make me feel a bit self concious but thats just me. Plenty of ppl have told me you cant tell the difference.
