Hey ho, a mastectomy's the go

Went back for post surgery pathology results. Not one tumour, but two, or perhaps dumbell-shaped plus the rest. Whatevs. It's a mastectomy and reconstruction in 6 months after chemo and radiation. Looking forward to meeting the oncologist. :)

  • It can certainly become a bit of a bumpy "road trip" that's for sure!  I had the radiotherapy but not the chemo after two lumpectomies.  It's been almost eight months since the end of my treatment and I had my first anniversary mammo yesterday which came back clear and all good.  Nice to know the treatments do work.

I love how your ex is so helpful and close by.  He must be a pretty special guy.

    Kick ass girl!

    Hugs,

    Vicki

  • So sorry you results are different then you expected or wanted. They sound a little similar to mine. Lumpectomy of the two lumps but left with the DCIS then six months of chemo and then bilateral mastectomy and immediate reconstruction. I didn't need radiotherapy though. I see you are a member of the Breast Reconstruction group so you'll find great information there. I guess you'll find out the when, what and how of chemo when you meet your oncologist. It's very overwhelming learning about all the side effects which they have to tell you about. So try to be calm and remember that you may not have any of them :) I was freaked out and imagined I'd get them all. It's the next step of your journey Meg and every step brings you closer to the end. Sending you hugs Love Janey xxx
