Here we go

Well girls been a while but life has consumed me at the moment ,finally decided to slow down and prioritize me. So of to the Gyno this week to check out my prolapse. Sent for ultrasound and today I go and he says I'm not liking what I'm seeing. You uterus is double in thickness what it should be and considering your on tamoxifen I don't like it at all. You know tamoxifen can be nasty, he says, well thanks I'm really happy aren't I. Anyway surgery for me on the 17th April, so here we go again . Damn

  • Hi Christine I had it just over 5 Years ago even though I had the prolapses for a very long time. I wanted to make sure my baby making days were really over. In hindsight I waited far too long. My surgery went well although I had a problem with catheter came home with it as my bladder after being sewn back up was very lazy and didn't want to work. That was probably the only hitch. Also it can't be proved but I was put on HRT and stayed on it until being diagnosed with cancer. I don't have any history of cancer in my family and taking HRT for so long definitely is a red flag. As soon as I was diagnosed told to go off straightaway. I did ask to go off HRT in those 5 years and my dr said the benefits out way the risks. So do your homework about HRT, if it is an option. I thought my recovery would be a breeze and I really did need the 6 weeks off work. Good luck be kind to yourself and make sure you let people help when they ask. Wendy xxxx
  • Thank you for your advice & information on the Hystersisters, I will have to check it out..& my specialist has also said recovery is 6 to 8 weeks.. Really not looking forward to it..& I will be glad when it's all over.. How long ago did you have your hysterectomy & how are you now?... I hope everything is going well for you Wendy.. I'm a bit nervous about tomorrow.......Take care Christine :) xox
  • The hysterectomy is enough in itself without the prolapses. I had exactly the same op with a posterior and anterior prolapse. I thought that I would be right as rain after a few weeks but it does take about 6 weeks to recover so be kind to yourself and make sure you rest up and defintiely no heavy lifting. There is a great site called the hystersisters which I got a lot of support from during that time, not that you wont get support from here but it is very specific to hysterectomies. Wendy  xx

  • I'm going into hospital this Wednesday to have hysterectomy because my thickening was so bad they couldn't even get in there to do a biopsy I have multiple cysts in there & I'm not even on tamoxifen yet & I'm also having anteria prolapse fixed as well..so I'm hoping its nothing bad,,,they have to rule out cancer so they can start the tamoxifen...Hope everything goes well for you & will be thinking of you on the 17 th.... Take care:) Christine:) x
  • Ive had the same thing and fixed up 5 years ago. Mine was caused by childbirth 23 years ago. Something I put up with for years. Great to see you taking charge and get fixed now. Xxx
