HER2 Breast Cancer

Good morning all,
I haven't written for a long while. This month being 3 years in remission. Survivor. Alive! As part of a clinical trial for my breast cancer treatment I still struggle every day with side effects.  The latest being rheumatoid arthritis or arthritis in the early stages.  I didn't have it until mid chemo and has gotten worse since finishing my treatments. Anybody else having similar problems I'm so over all the pain and side effects!

Thanks
Eunice

  • Hello hope this little note finds you well.  Thanks for commenting.  My clinical trial was the herceptin injection.  This finished 3 years ago but have had so many side effects since then.  Hoping all goes well for the remainder of your treatment and you go through healing for a fast recovery.
  • I had arthritis before herceptin and it all just aches now ...but it is only mobths after chemo. What clinical trial are you on? Mine is Es+ also so on letrozole.
  • Hello Jane.
Over the 3 years I have been complaining about all of my woes, worries and pains. It has taken a year and am now trialling hydrotherapy for the pains.  Tests taken are not showing anything obvious to say yes definitely arthritis so he thinks maybe something in the chemotherapy chemicals. Whose going to admit to that though? As they say you survived the chemo and radiation it's the continued battle after that! Thank you for listening though...
  • Hi Eunice, firstly congrats on the 3yrs! Such a great milestone. I totally hear you though about the ongoing battle with the side effects and although I don't have rheumatoid arthritis I do struggle with other issues such as lymphoedema and joint pain. Sometimes it can feel like just as you have turned a corner there's another little surprise just waiting  :/

Are you seeing a rheumatologist? Hopefully they can assist you in managing the pain and inflammation associated with that condition as I know from a friend who has it how hard it can be. Wishing you all the best xx
