help with pain

Its been 9 months since the expanders were taken out and the implants put in, I am healthy and back exercising and working....I have since from the first moment I woke from the bi-lateral mastecomy suffered continual non stop pain across the entire breast area of both breasts. it is a 6-8/10 continually. Exercise hurts to a 8-9.10 though I push through knowing it is not a medical pain though a nerve pain.sleeping is limited and aggrevatging and we dont go out much at night.

I am desperate to speak to anyone suffering from this post op pain. I was at RNS pain clinic today and they have put me on Lyrica starting this Saturday I hate drugs/pain killers of any sort. I think I am crazy sometimes as it is not a real pain - just nerve pain. I hope no one has this pain though if you are out there I would love to speak to soon. Wendy

    Hi Wendy. Just an update for you. I had an appt with the surgeon yesterday & asked about the pain. He couldn't give me any guarantee that there would be less pain day to day but he was hopeful that the more severe end of the pain would lessen, I might add that I do have other ongoing autoimmune things that still haven't quite been sorted out yet despite being on an absolute cocktail of different drugs. The surgeon did suggest very strongly that I should at least talk to the plastic surgeon to get an opinion on a flap recon & what results they could hope for given that I have contracture.I am hoping that the contracture should have nearly stopped .......it will be two years in March !!

    Did you have chemo &/or radiation ?

    Hi Carmel

    I appreciate you responding and sharing your story. I feel so alone and it is lovely to hear from someone who can relate. I think women should be made aware of the potential pain post the mastecomy and the threat it could be long term. I had a shocker yesterday and last night and had no sleep. please keep in touch I would love to learn form you...I live on the northern beaches  of Sydney are you nearby?
