- Mich_xMemberHey MichelleI am on Femara currently. Tried Arimidex but that didn't agree with me at all so I am on Femara. I do have a number of side effects from it and Onco suggested if I wanted to change but at this stage I have opted to stay on this one. Who is to say the next one will be any better and I will have to go through the whole settling in period again and I am not up for that yet.I couldn't have stayed on the Arimidex for 5 years due to how it affected me. At the moment I will stay on Femara for the 5 years at least unless a better drug with less side effects takes its place. They talk about 5 years being the minimum to be on an A.I. so I have accepted that and will run with that for now. As Leonie said that your Onco is the best person to inform you of this. I don't know anything about the drug Zoladex but also I have never heard of anyone being told to only be on the A.I. for 2 years either.Maybe there are other ladies on line here who have experienced either Zoladex or a 2 year A.I. plan from their Onco.I wish you luck and all the best with whatever decision you decide to go with.Lots of love, Mich xoxo

Hi Michelle, the consenus is at least 5 years with some oncologists opting for longer. It think this all depends on the patient's age, health etc etc and of course how their body has dealt with the meds. Just speak with your oncologist - they are the experts. XLeonie
